Okay now to the interview, Welcome Marie,
1. Can you tell us three facts about your main characters of Upon Your Honor?
Both main characters have strong personalities and are very brave. They both even have a tendency to protect those they care about at all costs, even if they come at it from different angles.
2. What can you tell us that is not included in the blurb?
Chloe Waverly, the heroine of the novel, has a tendency to get herself into troublesome situations or, shall we say, trouble clings to her.
3. What inspires you to write romance?
I have always believed in true love and even after having experienced some pretty horrible relationships, I found it for myself. This cemented my belief and made me more determined to create relationships that matter, to write about compelling characters who can finally find that love for themselves as well.
4. When did you publish your first book?
Technically, my first book was published in 2010. It was self-published. The book was an anthology of literary fiction and poetry; it was titled Express Café and Other Ramblings. My first traditionally published book was released in 2013. That was Upon Your Return, the first book in the series.
5. You write in several genres. Do you have a favorite?
I really like paranormal romance. I love reading about witches, shifters, vampires and other supernatural beings. I have a vampire romance called Second Nature coming out soon; it will be part of the Blood at First Sight Series. Recently, I ventured into fantasy. I just finished writing a children’s fantasy, which is also the sequel to Magick & Moonlight, a contemporary romance with fantasy elements. So, in essence, I am looking forward to writing more romantic fantasy. I even have plans for a future series set around the time of the Salem Witch Trials. That will effectively mix fantasy with my love of historical romance.
6. Do you have a favorite book or/and author or mentor?
I have many favorite authors. To name some, I would go with Nora Roberts, Catherine Coulter, Chloe Neill, J.R. Ward and Kris Tualla. As for a favorite book? Just now, the one that comes to mind is Dark Lover by J.R. Ward.
7. Do you write full-time, or as many self-published authors do have a 2nd job?
For now, I have a second job. I do appointment setting. But, I would love to write full-time whenever I can.
8. Do you write every day and do you have a ritual or routine that you do, before you sit down to write?
I don’t write every day, but, as with other writers, I am always thinking or planning something out in my head. I have those “Eureka!” moments when a good idea pops into my brain, even if it’s the title of a story. Usually, that spurs more ideas so I end up working on something anyway. Case in point, I was pretty busy yesterday with other tasks. Suddenly, a title came to me for a current work in progress so I pulled up the document and wrote it down. I ended up adding two paragraphs. So, that was progress!
When I am heavily focused on a project, I try to work on it every day, even it’s just research for the book.
9. What are you working on right now?
As aforementioned, I just finished up a children’s fantasy story. But soon I intend to get focused and finish the last book of the Heiresses in Love trilogy,Upon Your Love.
10. Do you have any future plans for more stories?
Oh, yes! With over 100 works in progress going at once, I don’t think I will be running out of ideas any time soon. LOL.
11.What is your favorite thing to do that is non-writing?
Well, I love reading, of course. I also have two other vices. Cooking at home or going out and finding a new restaurant. I love different kinds of food, and I am into ethnic foods as well. My other obsession? Shopping! My fiancé often jokes that he needs to hide my credit cards. LOL.
12. What else can you tell us about your current release?
Even though Upon Your Honor is a historical romance novel, there is a lot of suspense to keep your interest.
13. Before we leave, what you like to say to your readers?
I would like to thank my loyal readers and followers on social media. Your constant support inspires me to keep writing! And for anyone who hasn’t heard of me, you can find out more about me and my books at my website,http://marielavender.com/.
