IWSG December Looking Ahead
HAPPY IWSG DAY!
my writing fears? they come and go and come again, but that’s life, isn’t it? the important thing is we must keep moving forward despite them, until they disappear. this has been a rough year, personally and with my writing, because the personal aspects shadowed my overall outlook about life in general. its hard to write, when you are struggling to find a reason to hope and believe things will get better, especially when it is drawn out longer than expected through time. that is probably my microwave thinking hanging me up there too. working on that. the good news is i have more good days lately than bad days. today i am hopeful.
nano anyone?
i did not do november nano this year. i did prep for writing just in case i felt up to it. the surprise is the last day of nano, which was also my birthday, i had a bit of a story epiphany on a story i have been working on all year. i am hoping 2016 will be my writing year.
revision, revision, revision
if you did november nanowrimo and have a novel to revise, i highly recommend trying this free 3 day mini-revision workshop with no obligation. i own the big course and i can say it was one of the best investments in my writing i have ever made. you can learn about it here, free 3 day mini-revision workshop here
heads up, i am a holly lisle affiliate, so if you go through my link and then decide to purchase something i may receive compensation. this workshop is free. you can only get it in the next 7 days. i have posted some promotion post, before iwsg’s post, if you want to check those out. anyway, i thought the free workshop worth mentioning to anyone trying to revise a novel for the first time or twentieth time. holly has many working writer’s as students too, and they have said that this course helped them really tighten up their revision and taught them some new tricks. most students go through her courses more than once, because they do help that much. i know i have, lol. they are not overly simple or easy per say, but they are so worth the effort.
looking forward to 2016
my plans for 2016. finish a novel, write several short stories, publish. read more fiction and writing craft books. i did the goodreads 2015 reading challenge. i pledge to read 60 for the year. i have read 114 books and still reading. what are your writing plans for 2016? how many books have you read this year?
may the force be with you
my birthday was november 30th. i was given star war tickets for december 17th showing in the theaters opening day. yes, one day earlier then predicted. can’t wait, i am so there!

I’ll never read as many books as I’d like, and I didn’t keep track, but I did pretty well this year. Pretty sure I read more books this year than last, which is good.
I have been a voracious reader since elementary, so I read a lot anyways. I probably should have committed for 100 rather than 60 as that is my norm.
Happy Birthday! What a great gift! I need to get my Star Wars tickets. I teach workshops, mostly on marketing and publishing, I think I will check this one out. I have a NaNo revision in my immediate future. This was my first time participating and I failed miserably.
Any words on the page in my opinion is a success. I have never made November NaNo either, but I have won 3 Camp NaNo’s lol. Holly is a great teach or least her methods work great for me.
Happy Belated Birthday to you! And Star Wars tickets? That’s awesome! I won’t see it opening night, but hopefully, the following week.
It’s great that you’re having more good days than bad. That’s progress. I hope 2016 is a wonderful year for you. Best of luck with your writing projects!
Thank you, Best of luck to you too.
Oh so many things to comment here in your trailer. I think you sound like you’ve come a long way from your problematic 2015, and I’m sure there are still bad days once in awhile. But to be inspired in your writing and on your birthday? Wow…that would make a great day. And Happy Birthday. Star Wars tickets are perfect for you. Loved the trailer. I’ve only see a bit of Star Wars movies with my grandsons on DVD. I can’t imagine an IMax theater filled with all the action and sound. Enjoy!! And how timely to have a free mini course by a presenter named Holly…doesn’t that say Christmas all over it? LOL..Thanks for the tip. I’ll look it up. May the force be with you!!
lol, I am so used to hearing her name did not think of the Christmas relation to it. That was rather serendipitous. May The Force Be With You too
A Free Workshop? Nice!
Happy Birthday and Happy Star Wars! 🙂
Thank you
Who can pass up a free workshop?
Right? Exactly. Thank so much for coming by to visit.
I hope 2016 is a great writing year for you! I know it’s a few days late to say this, but happy birthday! That is an amazing gift. My family is eagerly awaiting our chance to see the newest Star Wars.
Thank you. I hope it lives up to expectations. It will great see the original Han, Leia and Luke in action again, even if they are as old or older than me lol.
Wow, you got heaps of reading done, which is brilliant. I hope 2016 is your writing year too.
Yeah I did and still reading with year not done. Thank you, If I would write with the same fire man would I be prolific. Thanks for visiting me. Wishing you the best too.
I’m glad to hear your days are getting better. You’re going to rock 2016!
Enjoy the movie. Opening day tickets are all sold out around here so good on you for scoring some. An excellently timed birthday. 😉
I’m looking forward to it, Thank you.
Happy belated birthday!
And wishing you much success in life and writing for 2016 🙂

Thank you, and thanks for visiting me too
I had planned to do Nano unofficially . . . thank goodness I didn’t fully commit because I failed miserably lol
I cannot wait for Star Wars!!!!!! It looks so good!! 😀
loL, I planned for it. Didn’t do it, but I would have failed too, instead I got surprised with an epiphany lol, Yes, Star Wars May The Force Be With You Katherine
That’s a great birthday present!
Sorry you’ve had such a hard time this year. 2016 will be your writing year. Obviously, this was your reading year. (I can’t believe how many books you read…)
Thanks again for picking up CassaStar.
I have been meaning to read some of your books and just never get around to actually doing it, because I do like science fiction even though my fave is different types of fantasy. I am looking forward to reading it. I am a voracious reader. I normally read over 50 books in a year most years since I was teenager. Even as a kid I kept my mama taking me to the library. Reading has always been a favorite form of entertainment. Thanks for visiting me.
I’m jealous of your tickets. 🙂 And Happy Birthday!
You’ll reach your writing goals. This was a horrible year for me personally. I’m surprised I got anything done.
You always amaze me. You are definitely someone I consider a mentor too. What you have done is impressive. Sorry you had a rough year personally too—Wishing us both a wonderful and miraculous New Year.
Happy First Day of a New Year!
Thank you, ditto
I know things will get better. I wish I could prove it to you, but you just have to live every day as if life is better one moment at a time. Give it 3 days, and I promise you’ll be a believer. Happy IWSG, Juneta. Thanks for visiting my blog.
Thank you. Your words do make me feel better about. I feel like I’m whining all the time and I am not a whiner. One day at time is working out so far, rofl @ self, Thank you for visiting me too.
More good days than bad…that’s a plus! Thanks for the link to Holly’s workshop. It looks pretty cool. I’ll check it out.
Hope you had a happy birthday. Tickets to Star Wars is pretty darn cool. Enjoy it!
Holly is definitely worth the look, besides its free no obligation. I have never regretted investing in Holly’s courses. I have grown so much, since I bought my first one in 2012.
I hope you have a fantastic 2016! And you did particularly awesome with your reading goals! This year I’ve read half of what I usually do, but I’m hoping to read more next year now that I got my new Kindle (the Voyage, e-ink is easier on the eyes and the device lighter on my wrists).
I am a voracious reader, always have been. I actually read a few more, but they are not all listed, so only named the ones I had listed. I want a Kindle Voyage, but I use Paperwhite and I have an original Fire.
Happy (belated) birthday! Sounds like you got a really good birthday present with that epiphany. Here’s to a grand 2016 for all of us! 🙂
Yes I did, yeah me and thank you. to 2016
Sorry you had such a rough time this year. I hope that 2016 will be better for you both professionally and personally. Good luck.
Thank you much. Wishing you the best too.
Yay! Go You! I’m glad things are looking up and good luck with your 2016 plans. Mine? To finish How to Revise Your Novel (Yes folks, I recommend it too!) and therefore my second draft too, and to get something published.
And Happy Birthday too!
Thank you.
Yeah you go girl. You have already come so far from that girl just starting her blog. I remember our emails, so proud of you!!
Thank you for sharing about the course. Sounds good. Sorry this year hasn’t been good for you. I never do NaNo. I find the pressure too much for me. I haven’t been writing much either, but mostly because I’m lazy. Hoping 2016 will be a much better year for you.
I cannot recommend Holly’s course enough. They excite me, because I learn so much and grow as a writer. I own all of them and will purchase all future courses when she offers them. Everyone, even when somewhat similar theme, I learn something new. They were well worth the investment in me.
Glad things are looking up for you. And, congrats on NaNo! And, get inspiration for your other work. Merry Christmas, and enjoy all the fun energy!

I’m glad things are starting to look better for you. Good luck with your writing!
Thank you Things always “feel” worse than their reality. I just need to get over myself and move on, Again thank you.
What a great birthday present! I hope the movie lives up to your expectations. I’m still hoping to get out to see the final Hunger Games movie sometime soon.
Thank you. Its Star Wars and I am not as critical as some hard core fans, but I am a die hard Star Wars fan since the beginning, I have a great SW collection. I’d like to see the last Hunger Games movie too, but will probably wait till its on video or not.
I had gotten your emails about this course. I am in the process of rewriting half a book so I am seriously considering it. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
It is the best investment I ever made in my writing, I am not just saying that, I would not be so gun ho about it if I did not really believe in Holly’s course. I own them all and will buy all future courses too that is how much I love these courses and the forum community is wonderful. I have made a lot of great writer friends there too–published writers, and hopefuls, lol. Holly’s courses excite me about the writing the craft—they are so fun and I learn and improve. That is an awesome feeling in itself. Yup, I have not and never will regret the investment in me.
happy belated birthday Juneta, happy to hear it brought some fresh inspiration! 🙂 Thank you for your kind words, I look forward to reading your new story!
lol, Thank you. Your art and your writing are awesome. I am your fan too.
I’m so looking forward to Star War’s latest. I may have to do a day trip to see it though. Small town living can be such a pain. 🙂
Anna from Elements of Writing
I use to live in a small town, but we had a theater which played Star Wars (most popular movies) I saw the last batch on opening day at that theater in Texas.
