Not sure if I’m posting this in the right place, but as a beta partner, I would choose Lois McMaster Bujold. Her books strike a great balance between seriousness and humor. She also has a great way with the play of language. Even though she’s not exactly in my milieu, I think she would probably understand enough of my genre to be really valuable.

Hi, Juneta! How fun that you picked L.M. Montgomery! I could have chosen her. My father’s people are from PEI, and L.M. Montgomery was a second cousin of my grandmother. I lived in Charlottetown during my early childhood and loved Cavendish which was Avonlea in the story. You do love the place as much as Anne. The language in the book is the language of my childhood. It’s been fun learning everyone’s choices. I went with Stephen King. I must get back to reading the IWSG’s books. You’d think being stuck at home would free up more time, LOL! Have a great September! Stay healthy and safe!

That is so cool. I bet Cavendish is beautiful. I have also love Anne of Green Gables. Prince Edward Island is still on my bucket list for places to visit.

I like short but evocative descriptions. I think they set the mood of a story.

I agree. Set the mood tone, and can help build character at times by the way the react and feel to their surroundings.

I don’t like descriptions so I doubt that I could ever make my setting feel like a character. Great choice.

Not my fave but when trying to make it pop it can be fun trying.

I wish I could make my settings come off as characters.

Good choice. Having a beta who doesn’t intimidate you too much is smart.

Yes, hard to concentrate if you are intimidated. LOL
