IWSG MARCH 4TH: Family Tradition in Story
Stormdance Publication Anthologies
My News
Stormdance Anthologies:
We are working on getting Grumpy Old Gods V4, V5, V6, and V7 published. After that, we plan to do a relaunch of the whole series. It will probably be August or September before we put out a new call for submissions. We have also talked about doing a different type of anthology maybe with mermaids or dragons. I also like the idea of steampunk, dieselpunk, or cyberpunk combined with dragons or mythical creatures.
My Novel:
I am working on the first novel in my Starlight Galaxy series, tentative title: Bloodlines. I have a little over 6000 words in first rough draft done.
I am doing 2020 Ninja Write Along (NWAL) plus working shopping parts of it in the SF/F workshop of the Ninja Writer Academy. I love this community. It has been inspiring and a boost to my confidence. (I have been truly blessed to have found 3 wonderful communities that have changed and affected my writing and attitude for the better. I have gotten lucky with several FB groups too.)
We just ended the first eight-week session of workshops and will pick up again for another eight weeks in April. I have my first one-on-one mentor call with Shaunta Grimes scheduled for the end of March.
Looks like I might actually get a novel first draft finished this year. Crossing fingers and toes. Go me!!
I am also writing Grumpy 3000-4000 words stories and other short stories.
My fear? That I won’t be able to write it or what I write won’t measure up to what I imagine. I also worry I won’t be able to capture that something that I get from reading stories that I love and hooked me.

Writers and Readers,
The Insecure Writer’s Support Group Book Club is for writers to read/learn about the writing craft. We will swap back and forth between craft books and fiction books that demonstrate aspects of storytelling.
We will read one book every two months.
There will be polls, free gifts, and a lot of Discussion Day fun.
No promo. Just writers reading books and discussing those books with other writers.
Start reading date for reading February 1, 2020 End Date March 25, 2020
The discussion is on March 25, 2020.
You get to pick which book you want to read this month. We are discussing them both. You only need to read one book, unless you want to read both. We will discuss them both.

I’m a little late for reading IWSG’s March posts because I was in Tucson, far from winter’s snow — and without reliable internet for nearly a month! So, we left Tucson (82F) and we’re back in Spokane now, with snow expected tomorrow — 3-6″. Your post celebrated 6,000 words on the way to finishing your first draft, and yet you were worried about whether you could write and that you were tired of being sick. All I can say is that after nearly 3 years on my current wip, I’m in the same place, recovering from traveling and a nasty cold, and hoping I can leap back into the writing. So, I say to you: Let’s do it! Tell that story that is close to your heart! Best, Beth

Can I just say… I vote for dragons. Yes! Dragons with more dragons. hehehe
We all feel a little scared when facing a huge project. Revision and beta readers (me) can help with that. You are not alone. 🙂

I’m amazed how many people answered the #IWSG question as you did–not really. Not sure if that means anything. I’m intrigued by the 2020 Ninja Write Along. I’ll have to look it up!

I have probably used something just don’t remember. I could not think of anything off the top of my head.

Your list of stuff you got done is amazing. I read it and wanted to take a nap. Where do you get your energy from??? Can I borrow some? Happy IWSG Day, Juneta!
admin2
March 4, 2020 @ 11:17
That is not stuff that is done but stuff to do still and I am working on. I am a very low energy person and deal with fatigue. I just do one thing at a time and keep working on stuff through the overwhelm. And I try to say yes more than I say no, but I am careful not to take on more than I can handle when it involves obligations to others. Not always successful but I have done okay so far.

I’m rooting for that new novel draft. And all of the Grumpy God’s. And Storytime. And… and… I can’t believe how much you get done in a year.
admin2
March 4, 2020 @ 11:19
LOL, I am rooting for it oo. Thank you. It does not feel like I get much done at all sometimes. I am not sure what I get done moves me toward what I need all the time either, but one thing at a time.
