I love the new look of your blog it’s so beautiful and modern. I think we have the same writing pet peeves, oh those tricky brains!

Congrats on the new website! And I feel you about the weird formatting/fonts some ebooks have. I’ve gotten to the point where I just won’t read a badly formatted ebook because it ruins my view of the story. Luckily, I don’t run into as many like that as I used to.

I like the new theme. I’m sure the site will look awesome once you figure out everything.

My editing pet peeve is when people send me rough drafts to proofread. Like that’s what’s going to fix the book at this stage. *Snort.*

What a great new site. I like it! It looks like we have some of the same pet peeves when it comes to reading and writing. I’m still trying to learn more about different POVs because I always get confused.

Thanks for showcasing the two books. They look like ones that I’d want to read. Have a great day! Hugs. Eva

My eyes see what it should read, not what it does read, when editing my own work. Ugh, I need special glasses to see through my own ego.

I’m with you on the “glaring” effect. And i really love it when I’m beta reading and get too involved in the story to notice mistakes. Been a long time for that one.

HI Juneta, What a change in your website. Really cool and eye catching. I agree with the poor formatting of a book on Kindle. I stop reading too and that’s too bad because the story could have been a good one.

Good luck with the new site. It’s looking nice so far. My eyes always miss my own mistakes too. I smack myself in the head when my CPs catch them.

Wow! Some great books, Beverly and Lee. All the luck with them.

Juneta, I REALLY hate when I miss my own errors in my manuscripts or blog posts. I try so hard to look closely and read and re-read them. Thanks for sharing this with your followers. All the best to you, my dear!

Yeah, I tend to glaze over errors in my own writing myself. Because my brain knows what I meant to say, it doesn’t pick up on the error.

I find Text-to-Speech very helpful for this, because the computerized voice doesn’t read your intention, it reads exactly what you put on the page, and it’s sometimes jarring to hear the errors.

It is so annoying how my brain substitutes what I meant to write for the words that are actually on the page! At the same time, though, it’s incredible to think that the human brain can hold on to our original intent for so well and deceive us for so long.

By the time you get your blog all set up, you’ll be ready to sell your expertise to others. 🙂 I eventually plan to move my blog to WordPress, but it seems so daunting. Reading about your progress makes me feel better about the prospect.

(Good) beta-readers are worth their weight in gold.

I put mine together at first on a sub domain to learn how to make the website look I wanted, and then I realized every new post on the old I created I would have transferred to the new site, so doing double the work.

So, I looked into moving new to main domain. Tigertech who host my domain junetakey.com did it for me. I could have learned but did not have to.

I did it once before in past when I went from free WP to WP.org myself, but this time I did not have to. It was not hard but took some time for me to learn.

Tigertech.com did it for me this time. It took about 30 mins and I was up and running, no hassle. Now I am finishing and transferring old repurposed stuff I want to keep here as I can. All new post are already done since it is now my main site.

Remember if you are selling something you need WP.org the free WP does not allow selling with their blogs. They will shut down in violation of their TOSS. I like Tigertech.com as my host site. 9.99 a month plan and 1 domain included.

PS I would be glad to help you. Just asked when you are ready.

Wow, I’m seeing so many PP’s which are all mine. I’m always seeing issues with mine which I never saw (let alone proofreaders and editors!!) AFTER I’ve pressed publish. Brutally unfair IMO!

I can so relate!!! I’m a great editor when it comes to other people’s work, but I’m blind to my own work. So frustrating!

I like the new website. Looks great to me. And yes, I hear you on the self-editing. I edit books for other writers as my other job and I’m okay about picking up errors etc. But my emails even have typos!

YouTube tutorials are the way to go. With a little time and patience, you can learn so much.
I like the look of the new blog and am happy the hear the transition is going well; if a little slower than you’d like.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and offering encouragement.

Goodness, I hear you on self editing. Thank goodness for betas and actual editors.

I just read Beverly’s JUST BREEZE, and it was such a sweet, fun read. I can’t wait to get to the second one.

I like your pet peeve. I struggle with it myself. It’s hard to see things in your own writing when you know what should be there. Sometimes, it helps if you change the font of your text.

Interesting theme. I’m not sure about the color scheme, but on my screen, all the links disappear (get changed to white) when I hover over them.

I have a problem with missing words when I write, and then when I reread, my brain automatically fills in what should be there, so I totally miss that I missed a word! Doh.

Like you, I’m always changing fonts and hoping for a fresh perspective on what I’ve written. Nothing worse than Hey, where’d that word go?

Your new site is a lovely work in progress. I can’t wait to see your finished project. As to the editing blindness. . .very frustrating, but very human. That’s why we need those critique groups and beta readers.

Thank you so much for the feature with Beverly today. That was very nice to find.

    Hi,
I don’t know how many times my brain tells me that a word is there and it is not. Then I get it back from my editor and I see that she’s written the word in parentheses.
Wishing you all the best with getting your website up and running the way you want to.

When I read, looking for mistakes, I drag my cursor or finger along for the ride. It slows me down enough to see what usually is invisible. I’m glad I’m not the only one that does this. So annoying.
