April 3 question – How long have you been blogging? (Or on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram?) What do you like about it and how has it changed?
MY ANWSER: I write articles. Not sure that is blogging. I do not blog on a schedule, but as needed and depending on my focus. I do participate in the IWSG blog hop. I have been on Facebook and Twitter for over 20 years. Lots of changes—don’t like none of it — change is hard and disruptive. Twitter is HORRIBLE and now called X—Musk ruined that platform. Facebook, not better, just different and harder to use and get seen, especially if you use it in your book marketing. The one thing I like that is connected to Facebook is I think Instagram has gotten better, so there is that.

Never could get any interest in Twitter–I admit my attention span has shrunk, but I still think 140 characters is too little to communicate much! FB is a sad disappointment, but I have a couple of social groups there so haven’t canceled my account (I did that with Twitter for political reasons, but it was easy, since I didn’t use it anyway). Mostly I suck at social media, but blogging feels like it has more room for thoughts and even discussion, if anyone feels like discussing anything.

I’m on as much as I need to stay connected to friends and family. I don’t like the new Twitter/X thing either. I’m barely ever on it. But, I still enjoy writing reviews and connecting through my blog, Play off the Page.

I gave up my personal Twitter January 2021 but kept it for DLP. Sadly Facebook is too many ads now and I’ll see an ad for every 1-2 friends’ posts.

I’ve been on Twitter and Facebook for a long time, but I don’t really interact on these sites much. Blogging is my main focus. We’re glad you’re part of the IWSG.

I still can’t get used to Twitter’s new name! Even now, I go around calling it Twitter, and it gives me such a jolt of surprise when someone corrects me. I miss Twitter’s traditional blue bird, too!

Dumb to rename it, but I like that most of the negative political crap went away when Musk bought Twitter. I don’t like seeing that anywhere.
How many years has Facebook been around?

Well, 20 years, founded in 2004. I guess I exaggerated when I said over 20 years—so just 20 years. Twitter a little less, founded 2006, so 18 years. Yeah I exaggerated but it FELT that long.
